15th June 2020

This coming week is Active and Mindfulness Week. We are going to get moving and also look after our wellbeing that little bit more. We hope you enjoy this week and use it to refresh, reflect, and focus on your mind and body. Each day there will be two active activities and one mindfulness activity. Enjoy!

Take a look at the school website now if you want to see what Monday’s activities are and we will also post them here in the morning.

https://www.bunscoilris.ie/

Monday

Magic Word: Monkey. Whenever someone says this word you must do five jumping jacks!

Today’s active work this morning is a Zumba class. See the links below!

This afternoon’s activity is Balloon Soccer. If you have balloons, then great! Blow them up and have fun playing a game of soccer. How many do you think will burst? If you don’t have balloons, that’s fine. Use socks to roll up and use this a ball or you could just use a soccer ball.

For mindfulness today, we want you to focus on your breathing.

  1. Spend three minutes focusing on your breathing.
  2. Where in your body do you feel it the most? Your nose? Your belly?
  3. Be aware of the sensation of the in breath and the out breath.
  4. Just notice the normal rhythm of your breathing and if the mind wanders, gently bring it back and focus on your breathing
  5. Continue for 3 minutes and enjoy the calm this exercise brings you.

Happy Friday everyone.  My baby is 6 today and can’t understand why his friends cannot come over for a party.  We will make some of these lovely treats instead.  Have a great weekend everybody.

11th June 2020

Welcome to Day 4

Hi everyone. We are now on to the second last day of our arts/crafts and baking week and I hope you have enjoyed it?
Today’s challenge is all things pizza related! This could be something for you to make for lunch or dinner for the whole family, it is also a much healthier and cheaper option than buying shop bought pizzas. You can decide if you want to use pasta/pitta breads/wraps or even crusty bread rolls will work too? It is a great way to get you using lots of skills like chopping, weighing and measuring.
https://padlet.com/jryan133/gwx3shrszt6quot2

You work so far has been fantastic! Keep sending them in to your teacher and they will share them for us all to see. Well done to you all!

Welcome to day 3 of your themed week. Today’s theme is rock/stone art. Hopefully these will be easy to find around your house or garden and if not why not take a walk and pick some up. I am giving you a few options so you can either paint your stones or create your art using stones or do both?? There’s also a rock bun challenge for all the budding bakers. I hope you enjoy today’s challenge? Keep sending in your pictures to your teachers, we love seeing how creative you all are!

9th June 2020

Welcome to Day two of our themed week.
Today’s challenge is based around fruit and vegetables and hopefully you have lots of these in your home in all shapes and sizes. Please feel free to adapt any of the tasks to suit your home? If you want to do some different to the activities I have mentioned on my padlet page then please do. We encourage lots of creativity!

Send photos to your teacher via Class Dojo or whatever way you communicate with your teacher be it email, What’s App or Facebook.
Don’t forget to take a break from all your creative work and join Urban Gym for a 1:30pm workout on Facebook Live.

Win a pizza party for your class by logging into Class DoJo.
I have attached the recommended work for this week.   I have tried my very best to ensure that these tasks are appropriate for home and realistic for you and your child.  There is no obligation to complete all this work, do as much or a little as you can. We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different and encourage you to do what works best for you.  If you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you all so much for cooperating with this. Please let the children know that I am thinking of them and looking forward to (hopefully) seeing them soon!

The link below will bring you into an Irish page of conversation which the children can practice everyday.

Good morning all,

I’m sorry I was late posting but was having difficulty with internet.  Can I ask you all to email me as soon as possible so I have your email address for Class Dojo.  This is a great way for you and children to post photos and to keep in touch with me.  My email is bgriffin@bunscoilris.ie.

Thank You.

March 20th 2020

As it is Friday and in school we like to have a nice relaxing start to the weekend, I am asking all children to produce a piece of art.  This can be 2D or 3D.  They can use whatever materials they have at home.  Use recyclable materials such as cereal boxes, egg cartons etc…

Let your creativity flow.

Do some Go Noodle exercises if you can’t get outside for a while

Practice hurling and soccer skills or catching ball skills.

Happy Friday!

To all parents,

I hope you and your children are all well.  I know it’s not easy trying to keep them occupied and off the internet.  If there are any problems with the work you can email me on bgriffin@bunscoilris.ie.  Don’t stress if they are stuck on anything.

Enjoy your time together
