Our school Sports Day will take place next Wednesday 31st. May (Weather Permitting !) in the Geraldine O’Hanrahan GAA park which is near the school.
The Sports Day is a fun event. It is non-competitive. All pupils are asked to participate in all the events. There will be obstacle course, egg and spoon, three-legged race, tug of war, running, etc.
Parents are invited to attend all or some of the event. The GAA Club Shop will be open and teas and coffees will be available.
The Parents’ Council are providing an ice-cream van and every pupil will receive a free ice-cream.
Pupils can wear casual clothes on the day. Uniform is not required.
At 1.00 p.m. there will be two short exhibition hurling matches – one for the 3rd. & 4th. classes (boys and girls together) and one for the 5th. and 6th. classes (boys and girls together). This is so that the boys and girls who play hurling can show off their skills to the rest of the school and to parents and hopefully some more pupils might consider taking up the sport next year.
Pupils will return to school at 1.30 p.m. and school will finish at the normal time of 2.30 p.m.
